CBT for phobias in Paris

A phobia is an intense fear, often out of proportion, of a situation, an object or an animal. You may know it is excessive, but it takes over anyway — and you end up organising your life around it.

CBT is the reference approach for phobias. It relies mainly on gradual exposure, built with you and at your pace.

The most common phobias

  • Social anxiety: fear of being watched, speaking in public, being judged.
  • Fear of driving, or of certain journeys.
  • Fear of flying, public transport, enclosed spaces.
  • Fear of certain animals, blood, injections.
  • Fear of heights, of vomiting, or other specific fears.

How CBT helps

Exposure means moving closer to the situation you fear, in small steps, until the fear fades on its own. Nothing is forced: we build a realistic plan together, starting with what feels manageable.

Alongside this, we work on the thoughts that keep the fear going and on avoidance habits, so that progress lasts.

How it works

A clearly defined phobia often needs fewer sessions than other difficulties. We agree on the pace and length of the work from the start.
